Mitsubishi Plastics Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, claimed that its new photovoltaic (PV) backplane, which was released globally this week, is the best backsheet for water vapor isolation in the world.
The company claims that the new Back-Barrier board is a member of the X-Barrier high-air film series with a water vapor barrier property of 10-4 g/m2/day. The Back-Barrier is also heat and moisture resistant and can be bonded with packaging materials such as EVA.
Its recommended applications include solar cells, semiconductor chips, electronic paper and medical products such as catheters and contact lenses.
Just months before the product was released, Mitsubishi Plastics just introduced View-Barrier, which is designed for the front panel of electronic devices.
Mitsubishi Plastics said that sales of X-Barrier products, including Back-Barrier, are expected to reach 5 billion yen (386.9 million yuan) in the next two years.
